Richard James Spainhour Sr., 90, of Creekside Lane, died Monday, August 8, 2016, to be home with his Saviour.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Welcome, where he attended, with the Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Burial was followed at 2:30 at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte. The family received friends at Davidson Funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016, and other times at the home.

Mr. Spainhour was born October 14, 1925, in Stokes County, to Ernest Spainhour and Myrtle Hauser Spainhour. He was retired from Norton Air Force Base where he was a military photographer/engineer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Louise Sharpe Spainhour; and a stepson, Tim Love.

Surviving are his loving wife, Mildred Berrier Love Spainhour of the home; son, Richard Spainhour Jr. and wife Vicki of Wells, ME; daughter, Gina Spainhour-Sheilds of Bakersfield, CA.; grandchildren, Adela Bertoldi, Alexander Spainhour, Shawn Spainhour; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Frankie Mulder of Cypress, CA.; stepsons, Steve Love and wife Shirley and Phill Love and wife Lois, all of Lexington; and stepdaughter-in-law, Clara Love of Lexington; step-grandchildren, Holly Love, Regina Barlow, Jeff Love, Amanda Crouch and Daniel Love.
