June 25, 2014 Memorial Bench Update

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!ABU 1CTCSTo you, the veterans and families of AAVS/Combat Camera, we thank you. The donations have been very generous and will assure that we have a memorable “memorial” bench. Twelve squadron and three command patches, a stunning photograph and words memorializing USAF Combat Camera will adorn our bench. Donations are still being accepted. Just click on the DONATE button under the Memorial Bench Donors on the right sidebar. The donations we have and are still collecting insures ours will be a showcase bench at the Air Force Museum. Our granite has arrived in the states and is at the sandblasting/etching monument facility in Indianapolis, Indiana.

BENCH DEDICATION:
Please join us 22 Aug 2014, 9:30am at the Air Force Museum, Dayton Ohio for the official dedication of our bench. If you can join us RSVP to kenhackman@att.net and make your reservations at the Hope Hotel.

THE NEXT PROJECT:
A permanent display at the Air Force Museum. “While touring the museum quite a few of us commented that although many of our images and video are in use throughout the museum there is no display/exhibit dedicated to AAVS/Combat Camera. To change that we are in discussions with the museum staff; in fact we are planning on meeting with them during the bench dedication and proposing an exhibit that would recognize the sizable contribution that Combat Camera has and continues to make to the Air Force’s visual history.” Ken Hackman

On that note, we are asking our members for their memorabilia that could be used to decorate the permanent display. If you wish to contribute, please send a jpeg image of the item/s to barb@mycactusproperties.com. The
museum has final approval on all items used in the display.

We are looking for a volunteers who has access to and are knowledgeable of CAD software to create a computerized maquette to present at our interview. This will make it much easier to walk through our concept and make
any changes. We have a volunteer to help with sketches, etc. Interested volunteers? Contact: josepj@earthlink.net
